Future social studies teachers attend educators’ conference
Students in the Methods and Materials in Teaching Secondary Social Science class attended the Illinois Council for the Social Studies Conference at Harper College on Oct. 11.
While there, they had an opportunity to attend sessions led by history and social studies teaching experts, including Carthage alumna Sarah Goldsworthy Anderson ’12.
This is the 18th year in a row (with the exception of two COVID-19 years) that Carthage students have attended this conference, along with Professor Karin Sconzert.
“It’s a great way for students to transition to their upcoming lives as full-time teachers,” Prof. Sconzert said. “Professional development is an important part of their future, and they are getting a head start with this conference.”
